New officers to lead Cal Lutheran students

As president, Evan Carthen will lead ASCLUG and serve on Cal Lutheran’s Board of Regents and Alumni Board of Directors.

(THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – June 17, 2015) Evan Carthen of Highland will be the president of the Associated Students of California Lutheran University Government (ASCLUG) for the 2015-2016 year.

Students elected Carthen as well as Programs Board Director Amber Trujillo of Ladera Ranch and Senate Director Daniel Lacey of Westlake Village. Carthen and the ASCLUG Senate appointed the final two members of the Executive Cabinet, Controller Christine Trunick of Bakersfield and Recorder Kiana Parker of Hawthorne. The Executive Cabinet plans activities and programs to educate and entertain students and serve the community.

As president, Carthen will lead ASCLUG and serve on Cal Lutheran’s Board of Regents and Alumni Board of Directors. He will be the primary liaison between students and the faculty and staff.

Carthen is a senior majoring in English and political science and a former intern with the university’s Wellness Programs. He served as Programs Board director last year. A member of the Black Student Union, he has also served as a Programs Board representative and a Pearson Library student assistant. Fellow students selected him as a member of the Sankta Lucia Festival court his freshman year for his leadership, depth of character and faith.

Trujillo is a business administration major who consistently makes the dean’s list. After serving as a peer adviser for the First-Year Experience program last year, she was selected as a peer adviser lead for the coming year. As a senior sales associate at Anthropologie, she works with managers, helps plan events and trains new employees.

Lacey is a business administration major. He is a peer adviser for the First-Year Experience program and previously served as an ASCLUG senator. He is currently a media intern at Calvary Community Church.

Trunick is a business administration major. As the community partnerships intern for the university’s Community Service Center, she plans events, oversees student service projects and networks with nonprofit and corporate sponsors.

Parker is a communication major specializing in TV and film production. She formerly served as a junior senator and works in the Multicultural & International Programs Office. She has completed multiple marketing internships and is currently an intern with Fullscreen Inc.
