THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran men’s golf team released the spring portion of their 2012-13 competition schedule on Tuesday afternoon. After qualifying for the NCAA Division III Tournament in 2012 for the first time in six years, Cal Lutheran looks to keep the momentum going while navigating a competitive schedule.

Highlighting the 2013 campaign is the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) No. 2 event on April 6-7, which CLU will be hosting at La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc, Calif.

The Kingsmen begin the spring schedule with the Cal State San Marcos Invitational Feb. 4-5 at Shadow Ridge Golf Club in Vista, Calif.

CLU will then have a two week layoff before competing in conference play for the first time when they travel to Empire Lakes Golf Club in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. on Feb. 23-24 for the SCIAC No. 1 hosted by Whittier College.

March will prove to be a busy month for head coach Jeff Lindgren as the Kingsmen will compete in three tournaments while also hosting a one-day head-to-head competition. CLU begins the month by playing in the Master’s Invitational at Robinson Ranch Golf Club in Santa Clarita, Calif. on March 4-5. The Kingsmen then travel to Blanco, Tex. where they will compete in the Texas Lutheran University Concan Invitational at Vaaler Creek Golf Course on March 11-12. The Kingsmen won the tournament in 2012, defeating second place Mary Hardin-Baylor by seven strokes.

Cal Lutheran will have to hurry home to host a head-to-head match with Chapman on Thursday, March 14 at Tierra Rejada Golf Course in Moorpark, Calif. The golfers will tee-off at 11:00 a.m.

The La Verne Invitational in Mira Loma, Calif. at Goose Creek Golf Course on March 24-25 rounds out the busy month for the Kingsmen.

The weekend of April 6-7, Cal Lutheran will host the final regular season conference outing when all eight SCIAC schools sponsoring the sport travel to Lompoc, Calif. for the two-day event. The first tee-times for both days are slated for 8:00 a.m.

Cal Lutheran concludes its 2013 spring season with another head-to-head with Chapman on Wednesday, April 17, at Tustin Ranch Golf Course in Tustin, Calif.

The Kingsmen will then compete in the SCIAC Championships in Beaumont, Calif. at Oak Valley Golf Course. CLU will look to build upon its second place finish at the 2012 SCIAC Championship, their best finish in six years.

Cal Lutheran will hope to conclude their season with a second-consecutive trip the NCAA Division III Tournament, which will be played at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin, Fla. from May 14-17.
