LOS ANGELES, Calif. – For the second time in three weeks senior Starla Wright was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Female Athlete of the Week as announced earlier this week. She garnered the recognition following a stellar performance between Jan. 7-13.

Wright propelled CLU to a 2-0 week with wins over Whittier and La Verne to claim sole possession of first place in the SCIAC Standings. The senior averaged 30.0 points per game, shooting 82.1 percent from the floor adding 18 total rebounds, a pair of steals and an assist.

Against the Leopards on Saturday evening Wright poured in 34 points on 15-for-20 shooting in the Regals 110-95 victory. She grabbed eight boards and proved her leadership on the court as CLU took over the top spot in the league nearly mid-way through conference play.

Earlier in the week during a 72-52 road win over Whittier, Wright was nearly perfect from the floor, shooting 8-for-8, with a 9-for-10 performance from the free-throw line to tally 26 points. She added 10 rebounds for a double-double.

In each game she came away with four offensive rebounds for the Regals.

Cal Lutheran (13-2, 6-1 SCIAC) travels to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Thursday, Jan. 17 to face off with the Athenas at 7:30 p.m.

This week marks the fourth SCIAC Athlete of the Week representative from Cal Lutheran. She becomes the second two-time recipient this year, joining Kylie McLogan (Aug. 31-Sept.9 and Oct. 24-Nov. 4) and Zach Shultis (Oct. 15-21). Previously, Wright was named the SCIAC AOW for her performance between Dec. 17 and Jan 1, 2013.
