THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Facing the No. 3 team in the country, the Cal Lutheran men’s tennis team continued its winning ways, upsetting Williams 5-4 at the Poulson Tennis Center for the second of three consecutive home non-conference matches versus ranked opponents.

The Kingsmen opened a 2-1 advantage after doubles action with Nicholas Ballou and Ray Worley defeating Alexander Schidlovsky and Richard Meyer 8-3 on the No. 1 court. At No. 2 Thomas Millet and Marcelo Sousa went on to earn a hard-fought 9-7 win over Matt Micheli and Felix Sun.

Facing different opponents in singles than doubles had no bearing on the outcomes for Ballou, Worley and Alex Nichols who went on to add victories on the No. 1, 2 and 3 singles courts, respectively, to lock up the win.

Worley cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Sun while Ballou also won handedly 6-3, 6-3 against Meyer.

For the second day in a row Nichols was the deciding point with his 6-4, 6-4 win over Zach Weiss on the third court.

On the fourth singles court Millet and Micheli battled to a pair of tiebreakers, though Micheli had the upper hand for the Ephs.

Cal Lutheran (12-1) is back in action for the third consecutive day tomorrow when the Kingsmen host No. 28 Trinity (Ct.) at 1:00 p.m. The players will engage in singles play first and move to doubles as the Regals and Bantams will begin doubles action at 3:00 p.m. at the Poulson Tennis Center as well.
