  • Be reminded that all classes must meet on the Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week and all classes must meet during finals week. Failure to do so is a violation of federal regulations on the minimum required amount of class meeting time. Note: there are no TUG classes on Wed., Nov. 23 (the day before Thanksgiving), however, it is a reading day, so an assignment should be given.

If you are teaching during this time you are welcome to bring your class.   • TUG student registration for Spring and Summer 17 will begin on Fri. Nov. 4.  Both the Spring 17 and Summer 17 semesters are available on WebAdvisor and Student planning. Registration appointment times will run from 5 pm to 8:30 pm each evening and assistance will be available to students during that time through the Live Chat button in WebAdvisor. The schedule for TUG registration for Spring and Summer 17 will be as follows:

  • CLA Grant Proposals for Spring '17 awards due Tues., Nov. 1. The Community Leaders Association (CLA) has funds available to support faculty in engaging within the community. Appropriate proposals include cultural events, seminars, outreach efforts, and community-based research. Click here to view a rubric that clarifies selection criteria for this competitive application.   • Westmont College in Santa Barbara is holding its 16th Annual Conversation on the Liberal Arts: Liberal Arts for a Fragile Planet, March 23-25, 2017. This year's Conversation examines the relevance of the liberal arts to environmental concerns. The deadline for submitting proposals is Nov. 15 (student participation is also encouraged).Click here for more information.   • Call for Papers-The National Association of Hispanic and Latino Studies will host its national conference in Dallas, February 13-18, 2017.  Persons interested in presenting a paper, round table, etc. should submit an abstract, not to exceed two (2) pages, that are related to Hispanic, Latino and Chicano experiences.  Please indicate the time required for presentation of your paper (25 or 45 minutes). Interested scholars should submit his/her abstract with presenter’s name, institution/organization, address, phone and email no later than Sat., Nov. 5.
