Campus Law Enforcement

Cal Lutheran Campus Safety officers have the authority to ask persons for identification and to determine whether individuals have lawful business on University property.

The officers have the authority to issue parking citations and may make arrests as a private person pursuant to section 837 of the California Penal Code. However, Campus Safety officers do not possess police powers as outlined in section 830 of the California Penal Code.

Campus Safety maintains a highly professional working relationship with the Thousand Oaks Police and Ventura County Sheriff's Department. All crime victims and witnesses are strongly encouraged to immediately report crimes to the Thousand Oaks Police Department as well as Campus Safety.

Prompt reporting will enhance apprehension of offenders, ensure timely warning notices on campus and timely disclosure of crime statistics.
