State Legal Sanctions

The State of California sets 21 as the minimum age to purchase or possess any alcoholic beverage. Specific ordinances regarding violations of alcohol laws, including driving while intoxicated, are available from the Department of Campus Safety and Security.

California Lutheran University standards do not allow alcoholic beverages, including empty alcoholic beverage containers on campus, except where designated by the Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students. Possession, use, or distribution of illegal drugs and/or narcotics is likewise prohibited. A violation of any law regarding drugs and/or alcoholic beverages is also a violation of the University Student Handbook and will also be treated as a separate disciplinary matter by the University.
