Testimonials from Recent Grads

My three-year journey through the Master’s program was challenging and rewarding. The knowledge has given my resume creditability and I have moved up in the accounting field at a difficult time to do so. I have also learned valuable information which has improved my decision-making skills, and the benefits of an education far outweigh the costs. . . even starting over at my age. |
Jeff Edwards I started the MBA program three years ago in May of 2006. My experience throughout the years has been amazing; in addition, I have had the pleasure of seeing the online program grow and improve. When I started the online program, classrooms had no voice or video capability, all discussions were typed! The improvements to voice, video and Power Point presentations show the dedication CLU has placed on providing the very best online academic environment for its students. |

When I first began the CFP program I was unsure if it was going to be possible. I was married and was working full time. The teachers were very helpful and they allowed me to contact them at anytime with any needs. Two people got me through the program; Cynthia Grether and Ashley Ryan. They were ALWAYS very responsive and quick to lend a hand, and I believe that is crucial when you have an online program. |

This program is so unique and I have gained more than I ever thought I would from this program. This financial planning program at CLU has taught me how to apply all this lifelong learning into real practice. The kindness, supportiveness, and CLU network have been there for me since the first day I stepped into this program until now. |

Graduation was a wonderful experience for our whole family…There just isn't any feeling that compares to the exhilaration of being "hooded" as a reward to all that studying. With your kind of care and attention, I have no doubt that your program will become the best in the world. |

Testimonial from Sheryl Kesselring
This journey began in 1999 just before Christmas; I was the sole support of two teenage sons and had just lost a teaching position. Although I had the support of family, my options were limited and I was told that the lack of education was the only thing holding me back professionally. Since I needed to support my family, getting an education and supporting a family seemed unattainable until I discovered the online option for attending class. I was able to work two jobs and complete my bachelors in Accounting, moved back to my hometown in California, where I started at the bottom of the accounting field. In 2006, I celebrated my 50th birthday, became a grandmother, received my bachelor’s in Accounting, married my high school sweetheart, and applied for the online MBA/ Financial Planning program at California Lutheran. The three-year journey through the Master’s program was challenging and rewarding. The knowledge has given my resume creditability and I have moved up in the accounting field at a difficult time to do so. I have also learned valuable information which have improved my decision-making skills, and the benefits of an education far outweigh the costs . . .even starting over at my age. I have become a CPA candidate in California and plan to use the certification to further my career in accounting and finance.
I feel fortunate that as a working adult student, I was able to meet the challenge of the Master’s program at CLU. I had hoped to take some courses at the campus, but my schedule had me studying at 3:30 am to 7:00 am, and then all weekend long. It was difficult to schedule even the chat sessions around these hours, but where else could I have worked on a team with a fellow student in the UK, and one in active duty in Iraq? I attended a chat with a professor who was in China, and a professor who was in France and enjoyed the classroom discussions and the perceptions of those from all over the country. I was able to attend class the weekend my second granddaughter was born, and was able to post discussions from airports all over the country. This all led to the commencement activities and graduation was the point I was able to meet the instructors and Dr. Basu and I found them all to be very gracious and supportive. The commencement was the highlight of the long journey and I was able to celebrate the end of the long study hours and challenging curricula even for an old woman with a lifelong dream!

I have a very unique view of the MBA program in financial planning as I started three years ago in May of 2006. My experience throughout the years has been amazing; in addition, I have had the pleasure of seeing the online program grow and improve. When I started the online program, classrooms had no voice or video capability, all discussions were typed! The improvement to voice, video and Power Point presentations show the dedication CLU has placed on providing the very best online academic environment for its students.
Throughout the program the one thing that has never changed was the quality of the professors. I do not believe that the instructors at any other institution have the depth of knowledge and experience that the professors at CLU do. I have never found a professor unavailable to answer questions or explain a topic that I was unsure of. Upon graduating I felt thoroughly prepared to meet the challenges of the financial planning profession and provide the best possible service to my clients.

They were ALWAYS very responsive and quick to lend a hand, and I believe that is crucial when you have an online program. Students can’t drive up to the campus and ask questions so a timely response is very important. Having dependable staff is what makes the program great. Harry Starn was an exceptional professor and I truly enjoyed my classes with him. Overall the program was great.
Sometimes the technical difficulties were a pain and if I had to give advice to any future students, it is to get a strong solid internet connection and good quality head and mouth piece upfront.I learned a lot and the program will help me to be more successful in the future. The ceremony and the picnic in the park were great events. If I hadn’t started a new job I would have been at the banquet. Thanks again for everything.

Additional to that is the graduation ceremony that would be a precious memory forever to me and my family.

Graduation was a wonderful experience for our whole family. You were all so kind and made us feel especially welcome. I appreciated Dr. Basu taking his precious time to work with me on the Age Banding website, Harry Starn and Cindy Grether taking time to show us all around the campus, and getting to see where Ashley generates all those e-mails. The banquet at the country club was delightful; matching voices and name tags together with faces. And what an opportunity to have a picnic in the park with classmates, faculty and staff! There just isn't any feeling that compares to the exhilaration of being "hooded" as a reward to all that studying. With your kind of care and attention, I have no doubt that your program will become the best in the world.
