Program Requirements
Curriculum
The curriculum includes a total of 12 graduate courses (36 credits), based on the Association for Information Systems' Model Curriculum. All courses will be offered in 11-week terms. Three foundation courses are required, along with six core courses. Three additional electives (two may be satisfied by the integrated project course) are also required.
Foundation Courses
As a student entering the MS-IST program you will need the content of the following management and IST courses to succeed. Therefore, you will complete three foundation courses (9 units), to be taken first. Taught by business and technology instructors, these courses provide the foundation for the overall program. They include:
- Organizational Behavior
- Fundamentals of Information Systems
- Information Systems Strategy & Policy
Core Requirements
The IS core block defines the minimal knowledge required of all MS-IST students. This knowledge is both technical and managerial in flavor and represents a standard that defines the MS-IST program and differentiates it from traditional computer science programs.
You will select four of the following IST core courses (12 credits) for program completion.

- Project and Change Management
- Emerging Technologies and Issues
- Distributed Systems and Applications
- Data Communications and Networking
- Information Security
Business Core Requirements
You will select two additional business courses from across the MBA program offerings.
Electives
You may select three elective courses from other IST course offerings, as well as graduate courses from the School of Business or Computer Science.
