Profile

Seth Wagerman has published articles and made presentations on his research regarding the dynamic interaction of persons, situations, and behavior - a psychological triad that is well-suited to his joint PhD in Personality and Social Psychology. In ongoing research with students, he has been attempting to create trait-based templates for all 12 astrological sun-signs in order to examine the relationships between astrological predictions, self-reported personality, and the implications of social priming. He is also creating a protocol meant to validate a measure of "Academic Entitlement" across educational institutions of varying levels. Other research interests include personality and dating, academic dishonesty, and personality as manifest online and in video gaming environments.

Dr. Wagerman acts as advisor to the CLU Psychology Club and Chair of the Student Life Committee.

Education

B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Northridge
M.A. in Psychology from UC Riverside.
Ph.D. in Personality and Social Psychology with an emphasis in statistics and research methods at University of California, Riverside

Expertise

Dr. Wagerman teaches courses in Personality Theory, Statistics, Research Methods and The Psychology of Sex and Gender as well as special topics courses on Health Psychology and the Psychology of Evil.

Research expertise includes:
- Theoretical conceptions and the practical assessment of personality traits, behavioral acts, and the psychological demand properties of situations;
- The accuracy of personality judgment;

- Factor analysis and Q-Sort Methodology
