Profile

In addition to teaching courses in drawing, painting and interdisciplinary arts, Professor Higgins is a multidisciplinary artist who actively exhibits and publishes her work. She has had solo shows at the University of Wisconsin, Harvard University, University of California (Los Angeles), BC Space (Laguna Beach) and other venues. Her work is in the permanent collections of the Armand Hammer Museum/Grunwald Collection, Erie Art Museum (Pennsylvania), Laguna Beach Museum of Art, California Museum of Photography, Special Collections/UCLA Charles E. Young Research Library, and elsewhere. Higgins' artwork has been published and/or reviewed in THE BOSTON GLOBE, LOS ANGELES TIMES, ANTIQUES & THE ARTS WEEKLY (New York), U-TURN (Chicago), ARTWEEK, GENRE, and L.A. WEEKLY, among others. University of Iowa Press, Fossil Press and other publishers have anthologized her poetry. Higgins also has a special interest in the connections between text and visual images.

Education

Higgins earned her B.A. from California State University, Long Beach; M.A. from California State University, Fullerton; and an M.F.A. from Otis College of Art and Design.
