Meet our 2008-2009 DAs: Katie Bierach, Sara Burgess (Spring 2009), Christa Carlson, Maggie Melo, Brigette Stevenson and Jen Swanson!

Katie Bierach

I'm Katie B and I've loved poetry since I was a little girl. I love imagery and vowel music that come together in rhythm and rhyme (I like prose too, but poetry stole my heart first). Form excites me more than content. When I leave CLU I'd like to travel the world, writing, and teach after that. Until then, see me around campus with wide eyes on the treetops and rhymes in my mind.

Christa Carlson

Hey there! I'm Christa, I'm a senior, english major, shorty, etc. I'm the DA who brings all the candy. I'm also the president of Literary Society, which you should join! I love to read and make terrible jokes. I also have hopes that my future will present itself faster than a piano falling from the top of the empire state building and be just as forceful. Or something. If you are such a piano, please email me.

Maggie Melo

Hello you. Yes, you. The one with the eyes, and a tittle of desire to read about "Maggie Melo." As far as I (Maggie Melo) am concerned, I'm not so sure about myself. What I do know is that I fancy words; I love to manipulate them. I can string them into sentences, dissect them into morphemes, and have them capsulate my thoughts. They work for me, and I work for them.

Briget te Stevenson

Hello there, I'm Brigette. I really love all the "colors of the wind" when it comes to literature, but I'm a big sucker for children's lit and drama. I've always believed literature should help society, and what better mediums? I hope to become a writer and teacher. But if that doesn't pan out the circus has always been a back-up plan.

Jen Swanson

Hi! My name is Jen, and I am a book nerd. I'm a Senior English major with a Psych minor, and I am graduating Spring 09. My favorite author is Flannery O'Connor, and I love early British Literature (ie Chaucer). I plan to be an English teacher in high school and then later go back for my Ph.D. in Early British Literature. I love to talk lit, so feel free to stop by the DA desk or e-mail me!
