Description: Dr. Phil Internship Program - Fall 2008
The Dr. Phil Show is currently looking for highly motivated, creative, smart, and organized interns to assist with production. Start Date: Early Jan-May *Research Interns for Producers: Interns are assigned to one of 10 Producing teams to assist with guest and topic research. This job will use phone, internet, news, books and magazines as a way to find intriguing stories and topic ideas. Interns will be required to call potential guests, assist with production, and perform other administrative support duties. *Interns for News Department: Interns in this department will work exclusively within the News Arena of the Dr. Phil Show. They will be enthralled in an exciting, fast-paced environment. This job entails assisting the news department with making calls on breaking stories, doing research, and working with segment directors with tape and field shoots. *Interns for the studio and control room: This is an exciting opportunity for students looking to gain hands-on production experience during taping of the Dr. Phil Show. Interns will be required to report to the studio and assist with production. Assignments will include (but are not limited to) answering phones in the control room, assisting the wardrobe department, and working directly with the guest relations department. Major(s): Broadcasting, Media Relations, Telecommunications, Communication, Film/TV/Radio, Journalism, or a closely related major. It is ideal (but not required), to have experience working at your campus news paper or at your campus television station. **Internships often lead to future employment at Dr. Phil if you possess and display strong organizational skills, an eye for detail, a tenacious attitude, and a desire to work in television with strong intentions to be promoted within your field.
Policies/Requirements: All interns must be enrolled in school, hold a 3.0 GPA or higher and earn school credit, as the internship is UNPAID. Interns will be issued a Paramount ID and including free parking. Students should be available at least 3 days per week or 20 hours per week, depending on the position. Please be aware that ALL areas of the production adhere to strict confidentiality requirements and interns are required to sign confidentiality agreements.
Schedule: Schedule will be worked out with each intern that corresponds to their area of specialty & school schedule. Interns must be prepared to meet this schedule every week. Arrangements can be made in advance for finals & other schedule issues. All interns must be enrolled in school, hold a 3.0 GPA or higher and earn school credit, as the internship is UNPAID.
