National French Honor Society
PI DELTA PHI, the National French honor society, was founded in 1906 as a departmental honor society at the University of California, Berkeley to recognize and acknowledge scholarship in the study of French language, francophone literature, and civilization by American students, and to promote the development of understanding and rapport among Americans and francophone peoples worldwide. To date there are more than 325 chapters at public and private colleges and universities in the United States and in France. ZETA CHI, created in 1971 is the Pi Delta Phi chapter at California Lutheran University.
The society was admitted to membership in the Association of College Honor Societies in 1967. The official publication of Pi Delta Phi is the Newsletter whose Editor is Dr. Karen Renick, Chair of the French Department at Cal Lutheran.
