Profile

Dr. Banker received her B.A. in Human Development and Family Studies from Colorado State University, her M.S. in Martial and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego, and her Ph.D. in Human Development and Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Tech. Dr. Banker is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She is a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and an active member in the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association.

Dr. Banker's primary clinical and research interests are collaboration between family therapists and medical professionals, medical family therapy, and medical family therapy training. Her doctoral internship was at Dartmouth College teaching medical residence and providing integrated care. Her doctoral research was on understanding postpartum depression from a family systems perspective. Following her doctoral studies she was hired to develop a postpartum depression program at Concord Hospital in Concord, New Hampshire. In addition to her interest in medical family therapy and postpartum depression, Dr. Banker has publications on community trauma and has authored articles on young adult sexuality and psychotherapy interventions.
