LOCATION
The Graduate Program in Computer Science is located on the CLU campus in Thousand Oaks, California, which is approximately one hour's drive north of Los Angeles and one hour's drive south of Santa Barbara. The community, nestled in the pastoral Conejo Valley, is surrounded by unspoiled mountains and rolling hills; protected nature and wildlife areas lie within its borders.
Southern California is noted for one of the best climates in the world. Pacific Ocean beaches are 25 minutes away by car and easily accessible. In the winter, snow-covered mountain recreation areas may be reached in less than two hours, though in climatically temperate Thousand Oaks the temperature never reaches freezing. On the same day it would be possible to spend time on the beach as well as on the ski slopes. Entertainment personalities and other celebrities often choose the Conejo Valley for their primary residences due to its pristine air quality, cultural offerings, and proximity to numerous and diverse attractions.
The city ofThousand Oaks has a population of over 100,000 and is a well-planned and extremely safe community of upscale professionals and their families. Recreation and entertainment opportunities are diverse and abundant in the immediate area. Significantly, Thousand Oaks is the home to many important high tech, biotechnology, financial service, and research firms. In addition, it is proximate to the major entertainment and media enterprises for which Southern California is known. It is also well poised on the Pacific Rim for easy and ready access to growing global markets.
