The Music Department at CLU offers a curriculum that emphasizes performance and academics for both the music major and the non-music major. The hallmark of the music program is its dedicated faculty whose primary commitment is teaching.



Located on the CLU campus, this day program for the aspiring young singer offers the developing student an opportunity to explore the world of vocal technique, solo repertoire and performance.

Interns play a key role in bringing a venerable event to fruition

This year, more than a dozen students majoring in music, business and international development at colleges from across the country have signed on as interns for the Ojai Music Festival. They did so formally for the first time, using applications created by former intern Hayley Woldseth, who graduated last month from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks with degrees in music and communications. CLU music professor honored

Wyant Morton receives Excellence in Teaching Award

(THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - May 19, 2009) An accomplished and popular music professor received the President's Excellence in Teaching Award during Honors Convocation at California Lutheran University on May 15.

Wyant Morton of Thousand Oaks joined the CLU faculty in 1992 and is currently the chair of the music department and director of choral and vocal activities. He is the third conductor in the history of the CLU Choir, which has performed at Lincoln Center and in England, Norway and Sweden under his direction. Read more...

Eric Whitacre, one of the most popular and performed composers of his generation, was on hand at the 7th Annual New Music Concert to discuss his music. Grammy-winning soprano Hila Plitmann also performed with the CLU Choral Ensemble.
