Art
Clay is a living material and has such human qualities. Working with clay, students become more empathic. They develop a sense of care because they have to carry their vessel from a clumsy lump of clay into something that’s of use, which has worth and meaning. That’s what pottery is.

Pre-Med
I have been shadowing two UCLA pulmonologists consistently since the summer of my freshman year. This experience has been an eye-opener to not only how hard it is to be a doctor, but how worthwhile this profession is. Seeing the patients each week brings me great joy and has solidified my desire to become a doctor.

Spanish
The Spanish Literature and Society course fascinated me because I had the chance to read literature from amazing writers who have shaped the Spanish language to what it is today. That is what was the most impactful for me - learning about all these great writers who interpreted their point of view on life in various ways all while incorporating Latin American history and politics into their works.
