Daniel Geeting

Band/Orchestra Woodwinds

Daniel Geeting was born in Berkeley, California. His first impression of the clarinet was formed listening to recordings of Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw found in his parents' record collection. Early study with Dr. Frederick Westphal was soon followed by completion of his Bachelor of Arts degree at California State University of Southern California, and Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Oregon completed his formal studies. He has received an institute certificate from the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria and has also studied with clarinetists Frealon Bibbins, John McManus, and Robert Vagner.

Geeting has held professorships at Cornell College, the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh and since 1984 at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, California where he is an Associate Professor. In addition to teaching clarinet he conducts the university wind ensembles and the university symphony and collaborates in teaching a liberal arts course.
