James Hanna
Viola
James F. Hanna plays viola and is a freelance musician in the Los Angeles area. A graduate of Louisiana State University, with a degree in performance, he has been active as an orchestral and chamber musician. Hanna was formerly with the Valcour String Quartet, in residence with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, where he was co-principal violist. along with their numerous commissions and premiers, the Valcour String Quartet was featured in Martinu'sConcerto for String Quartet and Orchestra, with the BRSO.
Selected as a member of the Louisiana Artist Roster, Mr. Hanna also spent time as assistant conductor to both the Baton Rouge Symphony Chamber Orchestra and the Chorale Acadienne. Having recently moved to Southern California, he has performed with the Glendale Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of South Bay, Pacific Composers Forum and the Santa Barbara Symphony, to name just a few. Hanna has also performed live on KUSC radio, and can be heard frequently in television and film recordings. He also teaches viola at California Lutheran University.
