Program Overview

There is perhaps no more significant or important job in the 21st Century than that of teaching. As classrooms, schools, and communities across California and the country become more diverse, there is a heightened need for competent, effective, and compassionate teachers.

The urban areas of California are among the most cosmopolitan in the world and the State of California has mandated that all students master the California academic content standards. CLU’s Teacher Preparation Program is committed to helping you become an effective instructor, one who helps move all students toward mastery of the standards.

The Teacher Preparation Program has a strong emphasis on teaching those students who are learning English. All observations and student teaching placements are done in settings that exemplify effective teaching to the standards to diverse student populations and there is strong and obvious linkage between academic coursework and student teaching.
