Board Meetings Recap - Sept. 30

Senate

Daniel Aldrete is working on getting marketing kiosks. Alejandra Cueva is looking around campus and taking pictures of where students could use more outlets as charging stations (for cell phones, iPad, etc.). Caleb Ardnt is speaking with Jeremy, manager of the CLU Bookstore, about an event called Exchange for Change where students will be able to donate their old CLU shirts and get a new one from the CLU Bookstore for free.

Lenaya Arzate is working on getting lights on the volleyball court near New West; she is also working with the Mail Center to consider getting more mailboxes for students. Morgan McVey is looking into placing a fire pit near Mt. Clef. Josh Gray is working on finding affordable, seasonable storage units for students.

Courtney Sabile is working on getting lights in Kingsmen Park. Abel Cocos is looking into getting Digiboo, a movie-on-the-go rental system. Because of the sun exposure in Mogen Lounge in late afternoon, Rachael Cortina is working with the Graduate Resident Director in Mogen to get blinds in Mogen Lounge. Mike Frieda is looking into getting a coffee machine in the library.

Ryan Luchs and Josh Wood are working on getting an affordable quote for skateboard racks in the Dining Commons and outside the library. Lauren Neiger is looking into the possibility of selling school supplies in the Residence Hall front desks or another location such as the front desk in the Middle Modular Unit.

Qiushi Yang is working on parking spaces for international students to park their cars during the summer months. Joette Carini is working on the magnets for recycling as well as looking into parking spots for motorcycles. Dan Lacey is working with Jae Park on digital signage to coordinate with social media.

Cody Jones is working on getting more student discounts at businesses near CLU. Michelle Grawet is working on improving the laundry systems on campus. Gregg Salazar is working on getting more eco-friendly water filtration systems in the Residence Halls.

Programs Board

The "Bomb Squad" Committee (Committe Chair: Jasmine Waples, jwaples@callutheran.edu) has decided on Pieology as the location for Drop In on October 11th. The first 200 students who arrive will only have to pay $2.26 for one pizza. Other students who arrive after the first 200 students will receive 10% discount. Click here for more info. The committee is also considering a haunted house or fear factor for the Halloween Event on November 1st.

The "Carlos' Gems" Committee (Committee Chair: Carlos Moran, cmoran@callutheran.edu) is looking into getting a good luck banner to athletes for the October Spirit Event. Other items include having players sign the ball for raffle prizes and giving away gift cards. The committee is considering to host this event during the football game against Redlands on October 12th.

The "Furious Flying Ferbees" Committee (Committee Chair: Laurel Skinner, lskinner@callutheran.edu) is considering to support the women's volleyball game against Redlands for the spirit event on October 26th. The Committee is also planning Homecoming Carnival; some items that were discussed were having different venders/carnival group show up and inviting clubs to table at the carnival.

The "Cuddling Koalas" Committee (Committee Chair: Ottilie Yee, oyee@callutheran.edu) is planning the Monte Carlo Night (October 18th). The committee is looking into getting more decorations and prizes.

Senate Board Meeting will take place on October 7th at 5:20 pm in Swenson 101; Programs Board Meeting will also take place on October 7th at 7:15 pm in Swenson 101.
