Funding
Funding from Senate is available to clubs and organizations and for student projects and events.
Clubs & Organizations may request additional funding at any time throughout the academic year, given that money is still available in the Senate budget. Here's how to get funding for your club and/or organization:
- Download and complete the budget outline.
- Once completed, please email the budget outline to David Bryant, ASCLU Senate Director, at asclusenatedir@CalLutheran.edu. David will get back to you with when you (or a club/organization representative(s) will be invited to come to the Senate meeting, where Senators will have an opportunity to ask you questions about your budget request and vote to approve it.
- Before coming to the Senate meeting, it is highly encouraged that you (or a club/organization representative(s)) contact one of the Senators. (Click here for the list of Senators and their contact information.) A Senator will be able to give you an insight about what kinds of questions may be asked about your budget request.
Independent student projects/events on campus may also request funding.
Some past projects/events that were funded (fully or partially) by Senate include: Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Trip ($7,000), CLU Food Pantry ($500), Media Services WebCheckout system ($2,495), and World Malaria Day ($2,650). Here's how to get funding for your project/event:
- Draft a thorough budget outline (Excel preferred). To give you an idea of what the budget outline can look like, here's the budget outline of the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Trip.
- Once completed, please email the budget outline to Zaria Opara, ASCLU Senate Director, at asclusenatedir@CalLutheran.edu. Zaria will get back to you with when you (or a club/organization representative(s)) will be invited to come to the Senate meeting, where Senators will have an opportunity to ask you questions about your budget request and vote to approve it.

All funding approved through Senate must be used for the original allocated purpose expressed at the time of approval. For any reallocation of funding, you must e-mail the Senate Director with your updated budget request including details on what funds are being shifted and the reasoning for this reallocation of funds. Any reallocation requests under $1,000 will be voted on by ASCLU Executive Cabinet. Any reallocation requests over $1,000 will be brought to Senate and must be approved by majority vote.
