Resident Assistants

Resident Assistants (RAs) fill an important role in creating a welcoming, fun, safe and respectful community within each residence hall on our campus. Each RA is tasked with getting to know each resident on their floor, while also creating a community feel on their floor/wing by helping residents get to know one another. Successful RAs frequently connect with each of their residents in person. RAs also plan and run creative programs in their hall to help residents get to know one another. RAs should be good role models to their communities, both personally and academically. We train our staff to know about resources all over campus so that they can help answer questions that residents may have. At times, RAs will also be called upon to mediate conflict, to confront behavioral concerns and to respond to crises.

Selection Process

The 2016-2017 Resident Assistants have been hired.  Please be sure to attend one of our four Interest Sessions in January 2017 to begin the application process for 2017-2018:

  • January 23rd, 2017 - 4:00pm-4:45pm - Kingsmen Room - Student Union 114
  • January 24th, 2017 - 11:30am-12:15pm - Kingsmen Room - Student Union 114 
  • January 26th, 2017 - 8:00pm-8:45pm - Mt. Clef Lounge
  • January 27th, 2017 - 1:00pm-1:45pm - Kingsmen Room - Student Union 114

    Applications will be available to those who attend one interest session.  If you are unable to attend one of the interest sessions, please schedule a meeting in January 2017 by e-mailing ahanson@callutheran.edu or calling our main office at 805-493-3220.

Summer RAs

If you are interested in being a summer RA, you do not need to attend the Interest sessions listed above. The summer RA selection process takes place after Spring Break in March. To show interest for the summer RA position for 2017 or for more information, please email reslife@callutheran.edu.
