Requirement: Develop urban areas with existing infrastructure in order to protect greenfields and preserve habitat and natural resources. This is accomplished in one of two ways; either through developing a previously developed site in a very-high density urban (downtown) community, or through developing a previously developed site located within 1/2 mile of a residential zone and within 1/2 mile of at least 10 basic services, with pedestrian access between the building and the services.
Implementation:
The Swenson Center is a new 33,247 square foot classroom/office building constructed on the site of the former university tennis courts.
- It is located within 1/2 mile of the Granada Garden Apartments (unit density of 15 units per acre)
