Pastor Scott

Scott Maxwell-Doherty

Campus Pastor

Born in Burbank, California, Pastor Scott Maxwell-Doherty grew up playing with his Tonka Trucks, carving roads into his mother's garden. Listening to the likes of Tower of Power, Pastor Scott became an avid tennis player, eventually competing as a student-athlete at CLU and currently rooting for Roger Federer. A man who loves burgers and fries, he came to CLU for the opportunity to engage in a different kind of Pastoral Ministry. His favorite Bible verse comes from 1 Peter 2:9-10: "But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's own people, in order that you may proclaim the might acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy."

Pastor Melissa

Melissa Maxwell-Doherty

Campus Pastor

Hi! I am Melissa, one of the CLU campus pastors. I like to do crafty things like knit, rubber stamps, and scrap book. I like to read novels while petting our dog, Ripley. I like to try new recipes, especially if they involve garlic, a vegetable I would buy at Whole Foods, or chocolate. When I was young I wanted to be a ballerina, marry a fireman, and have 22 children. When I was in high school I wanted to be an interior decorator, wine maker, or a special education teacher within the deaf community. I guess the Spirit has a sense of humor, which I am grateful!

Belle Michael

Rabbinic Intern

I moved to California in 2007 from Israel.  It has been wonderful journey that has allowed me to explore myself, my region in this new land and to discover this beautiful country. My time is spent raising our 3 sons, attending school and teaching.  Zuma classes, one of my passions, is my stress release, along with walking my dog, Butter, a yellow Lab. I am completing my second masters degree, Masters in Divinity and will be ordained as a Rabbi in June 2013.
