Love's Labour's Lost

21st Annual Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival

Love's Labour's Lost

The 21st season of one of our region’s most popular outdoor theatrical events opens with the Kingsmen Shakespeare Company’s production of William Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost June 30 through July 16.

Love’s Labour’s Lost follows the antics of the King of Navarre and his four young companions who take an oath to devote themselves to three years of study and fasting and to give up the company of women. Unfortunately for them, the Princess of France and her ladies arrive in Navarre, testing the resolve of the young men. This rollicking tale of love and language is directed by Kevin P. Kern.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday June 30-July 2, July 7-9 and July 14-16.

General admission is $20 for adults and free for those under 18. Reserved lawn boxes are available online for $90 to $110, with room for six. Parking is available in the lots at the corner of Olsen Road and Mountclef Boulevard.

The season will conclude with a production of Julius Caesar July 21 through Aug. 6.

Kingsmen Shakespeare Company is the professional theater company of Cal Lutheran. In addition to the summer Shakespeare Festival shows, the nonprofit organization coordinates apprentice programs for professional and aspiring Shakespearean actors, a spring educational tour program in local elementary schools, and summer theater camps for youth.
