Founders Day Convocation

'Educating for Lives of Purpose'

Founders Day Convocation

Each fall, the university community, alumni and friends gather to celebrate the founding of the university and mark the occasion with a festive convocation. The theme for Founders Day 2019 is “Educating for Lives of Purpose.” We celebrate the educational commitment of the university to equip graduates who are called and empowered to serve the neighbor so that all may flourish.

The program includes the installation of the Board of Regents, commissioning of the Convocation, blessing of the Associated Students of California Lutheran University Government and Graduate and Professionals Student Council, and bestowing of the Christus Award. The award is given annually for contributions that honorees have made to strengthen the bridge between the church and the university or for other significant contributions to higher education in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. This year’s recipients are Linda Baumhefner, owner/principal of LSB Executive Consulting, and Rod Gilbert, H’16, president of TOLD Corp.

The Founders Day Convocation will be streamed at CalLutheran.edu/live.

Admission is free.
