Mark Eric Gulsrud

Career Achievement

Mark Eric Gulsrud ’72 was honored with the Career Achievement Award for his accomplishments as an artist and designer.  A self-employed artist, consultant and interim faculty member at Pacific Lutheran University, Mark graduated from CLU with a bachelor’s degree in art.  He completed a master’s degree in fine arts in ceramics at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wash.

Mark’s outstanding talents have been recognized and honored by the Interfaith Forum on the Arts and Architecture, Modern Liturgy Magazine and the American Crafts Council.  His works have been featured in The Christian Science Monitor, American Craft Magazine, the Los Angeles Times and The Stained Glass Quarterly and can be found throughout the United States, British Columbia and Western Europe.  One of his many architectural stained glass wonders can be viewed in CLU’s Samuelson Chapel.

Mark and his wife, Gloria (Asper ’76), live in Tacoma, Wash., with their two children, Yvonne and Drew.

“Years as a CLU student helped to provide a rich foundation, both intellectually and personally, upon which I have built my career.  I am grateful, each day that I am able to provide a living through my creative expressions.  Being recognized by the CLU alumni, for doing something which I consider a privilege, is a special surprise; one which adds to the richness of my life.”
