Artists and Speakers Series featuring Miss California
Jacquelynne Fontaine, soprano
Last July, Jacquelynne Fontaine was named Miss California and earned the right to compete in the 2007 Miss America Pageant which was held in Las Vegas in January. There, she won the talent portion of the competition during three days of preliminaries and was one of the top 10 semifinalists the night of the pageant. During the Miss California competition, Fontaine also won a preliminary talent award and the Leni Arnhym Classical Performer award.
Fontaine graduated from CLU magna cum laude in 2004 with a degree in music. She is currently a master’s candidate in vocal arts at the USC Thornton School of Music, where she is a student of Gary Glaze. Her previous teachers have included Diann Alexander and Geraldine Decker of the Metropolitan Opera.
