Psyche and Soul

The Psyche and Soul conference, which will explore the interface between religious faith and psychotherapy, has three objectives: to understand religion and spirituality as clinically relevant; to understand the role of religion in the psychology of coping; and to understand the particular clinical situations in which religion and spirituality are important.

Keynote speakers for the conference are Howard W. Stone, Ph.D., and Edward P. Shafranske, Ph.D., ABPP.

Dr. Stone is a professor emeritus at Texas Christian University where he served as a professor of pastoral theology and pastoral counseling. He also has practiced as a licensed clinical psychologist and marriage and family therapist.

Dr. Shafranske is a professor of psychology at Pepperdine University. He served two terms as president of APA Division 36 - Psychology of Religion and was the recipient of the William Bier Award and the Distinguished Service Award for contributions to the field.

The conference will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. For a complete conference schedule, and information on registration, fees and continuing education credit, please visit the event Web site below.
