Honors Day Convocation
Keynote Speaker - Tracy Downs '88, M.D.
California Lutheran University will recognize the hard work and achievement of many of its students during Honors Day Convocation. Alumnus Tracy Downs, M.D., a urologist and assistant professor in the Surgery, Tumor Growth, Invasion & Metastasis Program at the University of California, San Diego will deliver the address.
After graduating from CLU in 1988 with a degree in biological science, Downs went on to pursue a career in medicine. He completed his urology residency at the Harvard Medical School before finishing his fellowship in urologic oncology at the University of California, San Francisco. Downs has completed extensive research in the genetic development of prostate cancer and has focused much of his work at UCSD on improving detection of bone metastasis.
Scholastic Honor Society inductees, Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Scholar Athletes, the Mark Van Doren Poetry Award recipient and the Dean’s Award recipients will be honored during the morning ceremony. In addition, newly endowed scholarship donors will be recognized.
The ceremony is free and open to the public.
