Santa Lucia Festival of Light
The observance of Lucia’s day began in Scandinavia more than 1,000 years ago and was brought to America by Swedish immigrants. It is now celebrated throughout the land, including at California Lutheran University where it is one of the school’s oldest festivals. Lucia and her court, selected from the University’s students, enter to an ancient hymn and, one by one, light the candles in the crown of Lucia as she symbolizes the spirit of a centuries-old legend of Christian service.
Admission is free.
