Seventh Annual New Music Concert

The Music of Eric Whitacre with Hila Plitmann, soprano

Seventh Annual New Music Concert

Eric Whitacre, who will be on hand to discuss his music during the concert, has quickly become one of the most popular and performed composers of his generation. In 2001, he became the youngest recipient ever awarded the coveted Raymond C. Brock commission by the American Choral Directors Association. The Los Angeles Times has praised Whitacre’s compositions as “works of unearthly beauty and imagination, (with) electric, chilling harmonies.”

Born in Jerusalem, soprano Hila Plitmann is a glittering jewel on the international music scene. She regularly premieres works by today’s leading composers while maintaining a vibrant and extraordinarily diverse professional life in film music, musical theatre and songwriting. The Los Angeles Times calls her a performer with “tremendous vocal and physical grace,” and Entertainment Today raves, “Plitmann has a vocal instrument that is simply unreal in its beauty.” She received a Grammy for Best Classical Vocal Performance at the award ceremony Feb. 8.

Donations will be accepted.
