California Water Issues: Past, Present, Future
The State's Water Conflicts Continue
What does the future hold in terms of allocating critical water resources between the competing needs for urban, agricultural, industrial and environmental uses? This forum will address state-wide water resource issues that affect future decisions by policymakers and voters. A panel of speakers will be followed by audience Q & A.
Panelists:
Roger Patterson, Metropolitan Water District Assistant Manager, oversees the strategic water initiatives for the Colorado River and Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay Delta. He has served as Regional Director for two of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation Regions – Mid-Pacific and Great Plains – as well as Director of the Nebraska Department of Natural Resoources.
Frank Pecarich is a retired executive with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, serving in the Mid-Pacific Regional office in Sacramento as well as in the Washington, D.C., headquarters.
Glen MacDonald, Director of the UCLA Institute of the Environment, is a professor of geography, ecology and evolutionary biology and researches relationships between climate and vegetation. He has studied water resource issues facing California.
