The Party of the Year: An Operetta Review
Mainstage 2
Prince Orlofsky is having another of his grand parties and, as usual, finds himself quite bored with all that his extravagance affords him. So, Eisenstein and Falke decide to compete for the bragging rights of being able to make the prince laugh in this wacky romp through some of our most beloved operettas.
Scenes come to life from Gilbert and Sullivan (The Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado and Ruddigore), Franz Lehár (The Merry Widow), Jacques Offenbach (La Périchole, The Grand Duchess of Gerolstein), Victor Herbert (The Enchantress), Sigmund Romberg (The Student Prince) and, of course, Johann Strauss (Die Fledermaus).
This party promises to be full of hilarious fun, sticky situations and, above all, incredibly beautiful melodies that will stay with you even after the party is over. The CLU Opera Scenes program is under the direction of Angela Rasmussen Hicks and Jessica Helms '04.
Tickets are $10; free with CLU I.D.
