Yam Yad 2010

Yam Yad 2010

A revival of the original Yam Yad, including on-campus service projects and an after-party at the pool with In-N-Out burger.

  • Make CLU a little "greener." Participate in service to your alma mater and plant drought-tolerant, native plants at select sites around campus.
  • Free t-shirts for the first 200 volunteers!
  • Connect with alumni and students
  • Celebrate and cool down with a pool party! Hearken back to the founding days of CLU when the pool was one of the first things built on campus to offer volunteers who were building the institution a place to relax with their families after a long day of work.
  • Stop by the Purple Couch to share your Yam Yad stories.
  • Enjoy the In-N-Out truck for lunch, games, crafts, and music.

What is Yam Yad?

Alumni, you may have known a slightly different Yam Yad experience...and students, you may be wondering why on earth you would want to participate in a program called "Yam Yad."

In the early years of CLU on May 1st, Yam Yad ("May Day" spelled backwards) started as a day of fun in the sun when students skipped class to enjoy the So Cal weather and the company of their peers.

Eventually, this evolved into a tradition of classes being cancelled so all students and faculty could participate in service together. As day of fellowship and service in the sun, many a fond CLU memory was made in this custom in the early years of the institution.

As we celebrate 50 years of CLU, we figured it was time to refresh and revive the spirit of this tradition with Yamyad 2010!
