Potiche (Trophy Wife)

Francophone Film Festival

Set in a provincial French town in 1977, Potiche is a free adaptation of the hit comic play. When umbrella factory workers go on strike and take the tyrannical manager (Fabrice Luchini) hostage, his submissive “trophy wife,” Suzanne Pujol (Catherine Deneuve), steps in and, to everyone’s surprise, proves herself a competent and assertive woman of action. Things get complicated when the husband returns from a restful cruise in top form. Gérard Depardieu plays a former union leader and ex-beau of Suzanne who still holds a flame for her. (103 min.)

The CLU Fall 2012 Francophone Film Festival is made possible with a grant from the Community Leaders Association. All films are subtitled in English. Admission is free and the public is welcome.
