New start-ups are difficult to get off the ground, and large companies are challenging to steer. One of the most difficult stages in the corporate life-cycle, however, is a start-up's adolescence. Transitioning from a creative and expansive mindset to a culture governed by structures and processes is often a painful process.

Brian Farrell was chairman and CEO of the leading digital entertainment company THQ Inc. from 1995 to 2013. As CEO, Farrell grew THQ's global marketing and sales force to directly serve more than 75 countries worldwide. He witnessed the company's development from a small entrepreneurial venture to a major global industry player and, ultimately, saw it slip into insolvency. For a number of years, Farrell has also served as chairman of the Entertainment Software Association. He holds a bachelor's degree from Stanford University and an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
