Vivio Divina

Sacred Roots, Leaves of Faith

Visio Divina: Praying with Images. The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes. – Marcel Proust

Visio Divina (Latin for "divine seeing") is a method for praying with images and/or other media. In essence, we pray with our eyes. Spiritual seeing is different than normal, waking life kind of seeing. When we behold something, we approach it with awe and reverence, see it with open eyes, and take in depths of what is presented to us. Practicing Visio Divina can help cultivate our ability to see deeper and behold the sacred in the world around us.
