'Mary and Martha'
Reel Justice Film Series
In Mary and Martha (2013), an American interior designer played by Academy Award-winning actress Hilary Swank and a British housewife played by acclaimed British actress Brenda Blethyn meet in Africa and go together on a journey of self-discovery.
The two mothers forge a unique bond as each struggles with personal tragedy and strains on her marriage. When they decide to work together to raise awareness of malaria – a preventable and treatable disease – they begin to rebuild their lives and, in the process, to inspire change.
No RSVP required. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to support the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Malaria Initiative, which pledged to raise $15 million by the end of 2014.
