The Modern Presidency

Bruce Schulman, William E. Huntington Professor of History at Boston University, writes on American politics and society in the second half of the 20th century, most recently in Rightward Bound: The Rise of Conservatism in Modern American Politics. In this talk, he will discuss the American presidency in the last 60 years. An accomplished historian, Schulman frequently contributes to newspapers and online publications and has consulted on productions by the History Channel, PBS and ABC News. In 2015 he was a national semifinalist for the Robert Foster Cherry Award for Great Teachers, and he has won the American Historical Association’s Nancy Lyman Roelker Award for graduate mentorship. He also has been named the United Methodist Scholar/Teacher of the Year.
