Rotem Reshef: Time Traveler

Rotem Reshef: Time Traveler

A site-specific installation of interwoven scrolls by artist Rotem Reshef, Time Traveler highlights our interaction with and interpretation of the four seasons. Human lives are connected to the seasons in ritual, culture and tradition. Seasonal transitions mark the passage of time, whether on an agricultural or a religious calendar. In the installation, enormous scrolls are imprinted with features of each season: leaves for fall; ribbons for spring; raffia, straw-like, for summer; and some bubble wrap and cellophane for winter. This large-scale installation is curated by Sagi Rafael.

Reshef is a process-driven abstract action artist. She earned her BFA in 1988 from the Hamidrasha School of Art, Israel, and her M.A. in 2004 from the Reinwardt Academie, Amsterdam. Her works are found in private collections across the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Australia. She lives and works in Tel Aviv and New York City.

Admission is free. The Kwan Fong Gallery, located in Soiland Humanities Center, is open to the public 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Street parking is by permit only Monday through Friday. Parking lots are located on Mountclef Boulevard north and south of Olsen Road.
