World AIDS Day (observed)

World AIDS Day (observed)

Part of Ventura County’s annual observance of World AIDS Day, this three-part program invites everyone to consider HIV/AIDS not only as a medical issue but also as a social justice issue.

Join us first for HIV/AIDS 101, a sexual health education session from 4-5 p.m. Then stay for the Positively Speaking panel of local residents living with HIV/AIDS from 5-6:30 p.m. The event concludes with a nondenominational candlelight vigil beginning at 6:35 p.m. The vigil is an act of commitment: to stand with others in loss, against injustice, and connected in hope.

Sponsored by Cal Lutheran's Sarah W. Heath Center for Equality and Justice, Campus Diversity Initiative, Religion Department, Sociology Department, Wellness Resources, Health Services, and Counseling and Psychological Services. Community sponsors include Ventura County Public Health, Diversity Collective Ventura County, Planned Parenthood California Central Coast, the HIV/AIDS Coalition of Ventura County and Quilt Project Gold Coast.

Admission is free; no reservations or tickets required.
