History Lecture Series: Accommodation and Resistance

History Lecture Series: Accommodation and Resistance

Members of Cal Lutheran’s history faculty discuss cultural conflicts that come about when opposing worldviews collide. The final three lectures of the 2019-2020 series focus on the reaction of the Maasai to European colonialism in Africa, Korea’s struggles against colonization by its Asian neighbors, and U.S. domestic resistance to the Vietnam War.

  • Jan. 14: “The Maasai Respond,” David Livingstone
  • Feb. 11: “Korea Battles Imperial Power,” David Nelson
  • March 10, “Protesting the Vietnam War,” Chris Kimball

Admission is free. The series is funded by the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation Grant for "Lyceum: Humanities and Beyond!"
