Spiritual Bodies: A Lecture with Carlton Wilkinson

Spiritual Bodies: A Lecture with Carlton Wilkinson

Carlton Wilkinson is inspired by members of the African diaspora and seeks to lift them up through photography. He has spoken internationally and exhibited work at the Smithsonian Institute, the University of Notre Dame, Vanderbilt University, UC Berkeley, Fisk University, the Frist Art Museum and private and public galleries. His 25-year retrospective, Coming Home, was shown at Nashville’s Parthenon museum in 2005.

In this lecture, Wilkinson uncovers the depth and meaning of Spiritual Bodies, his collection of evocative photographs on display at the Kwan Fong Gallery of Art and Culture.

Wilkinson began his studies as an artist at Washington University in St. Louis, earned a Master of Fine Arts in design at UCLA, and later went on to receive the Tennessee Artist Fellowship, the state’s highest honor for an artist.

Admission is free.
