The 45th festival of Nordic cultures, the largest such event in Southern California, features music, dancing, cooking and craft demonstrations, presentations, vendors and activities for people of all ages.
Festivalgoers can visit an authentic Viking Village and a Saami sliddastallan, or community gathering, try their hand at Dala horse croquet, and decorate head wreaths with flowers and ribbon. Aspiring athletes can sign up for the kubb tournament, an ancient Viking game. Younger Vikings can enjoy the Hans Christian Andersen puppet shows and make free craft souvenirs.
Food is always a highlight of Scan Fest. Taste delicious lefse, Viking Dogs, Scandinavian pastries, and “World Famous” Æbleskivers.
Make your way to the main stage to enjoy Scandia and Swedish dance groups, the Evening Guests, and a headline performance by ABBAFAB, a tribute to the Swedish pop group ABBA.
Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for teenagers and free for children and current students/faculty/staff with CLU ID. Service dogs only. The festival is produced by the Scandinavian American Cultural and Historical Foundation.
