Sculpture by John Storojev

Sculpture by John Storojev

John Storojev always knew he was destined to be an artist, but it was only after several different careers, in fields such as advertising and publishing, that he finally settled on his life's work. He now exults in creating sculpture in a variety of media and styles.

Currently, Storojev is fascinated by the challenges of working in metal. Ever curious to experiment, he employs electric lights, crystals and water in his water fountains which gives them a uniqueness that has resulted in several commissions.

Another favorite medium is stone which he finds perfect for reflecting his fascination with the human form. Storojev also likes to get his hands in clay to mold the likeness of a face, a figure or anything else that fascinates him.

Asian-born, Russian-raised and U.S.-educated John Storojev creates sculptural pieces that present a wide and intimate familiarity with different media as diverse and eclectic as his background. Side by side with stone figures are sculptures fashioned in metal, some of them in the form of majestic copper fountains which emit quieting sounds and billows of mysterious water vapor illuminated by colored lights. Bronze figures, busts in terra cotta and a large rust-colored metal “bug” round out some of the interesting sculptures created by this CLU sculpture instructor.
