Textures of Sound

Jim Connolly, musician extraordinaire, will perform at the Halloween night opening of our light sculptures exhibit. The lush soundscapes he produces and the range of instruments he has mastered – solo bass, handsaw, bibberbox, bullroarer, percussion, bells and whistles – will amaze you. His voice is ethereal, and his virtuosity places him in a group of contemporary composers who are breaking the boundaries of their field.

Connolly has performed with the Lit Moon Theater Company at the Edinburgh and Montreal Fringe Festivals as well as the “Wild Side Festival” at the Centaur Theater in Montreal. He has earned three Independent Theater Awards for his work with Lit Moon.

The multi-talented musician has been writing music for more than 25 years and currently composes for Lit Moon and his ensemble, the Gove County Philharmonic. He has received an Individual Artist Award for Composition from the Santa Barbara Arts Council and has been commissioned by the Ojai Camerata to write a work for choir and string quartet. His work for theater and dance has been performed by numerous companies on both the East and West coasts as well as in Russia and Bulgaria.

Admission is free.
