Center for Nonprofit Leadership

Helping nonprofit leaders do better at doing good

2018 Cohort

The Board Leadership Institute began in January, in the wake of the devastating Thomas Fire. Nine Ventura County nonprofits scrambled to meet urgent needs brought on by the Thomas Fire, while their top board and staff leaders honed their skills to ensure their organizations’ long-term survival.

On June 28th, 33 leaders graduated as the first cohort of the intensive six-month program. They shared stories about how they used what they learned to make their organizations stronger, and reflected on the fire and how they can be more resilient in future disasters. At a culmination ceremony, they also were awarded certificates for having completed the course of training.
